The Eureka Mignon Specialita is one of the most popular espresso grinders of recent years. The reason for this is that it reliably delivers good grinding results and is particularly easy to use with its digital control and two adjustable timers. This means that the grinder cuts a fine figure in the home coffee corner. The grinder from the traditional manufacturer from Tuscany does all this at a price that is impressive.
As a typical on-demand grinder, the Mignon Specialita with its bean container for up to 300 grams is always ready to grind the next portion of espresso beans directly into the portafilter. The Specialita is controlled with the touch display, which is integrated into the ejector, and the typical push button below the ejector. First, one of the two timers is selected on the display and adjusted if necessary, or manual mode is selected. Grinding is then started by briefly pressing the switch with the portafilter. Thanks to the hands-free portafilter fork, which is height-adjustable, the portafilter does not have to be held during grinding. In manual mode, the grinding process must be stopped by pressing the switch again. This mode is particularly recommended if the grinder is to be completely ground - for example before cleaning or if the Eureka Mignon Specialita is used for single dosing. The grinding level is set using a rotary control next to the bean container. Thanks to the infinitely variable and highly precise adjustment of the grinding level, the Mignon Specialita is particularly suitable for espresso, where small changes can make a big difference in the extraction. Although filter coffee is not its speciality, in principle there is nothing to stop you from using the Mignon Specialita for grinding for preparation methods other than espresso.
The Specialita variant is housed in the typical Mignon housing with an angular design and square bean container. With its straightforward design language, Eureka makes it clear that the grinder is not secondary to the portafilter machine, but that both machines harmonize with each other on an equal level. With its chrome-plated housing and ejector, the Mignon Specialita goes well with classic and modern portafilter machines. Inside, a 260 watt motor drives the 55 mm disc grinder at 1350 revolutions per minute. The size of the grinding discs ensures that grinding is quick, despite the comparatively low speed. The speed and Eureka's Silent technology ensure that the grinder remains surprisingly quiet despite its performance.
