The advantages of a funnel

With the Eureka Mignon Dosing Funnel, the mill manufacturer from Florence finally offers the right dosing funnel for the Eureka Mignon coffee grinders. More and more baristas are relying on the use of a funnel on the portafilter. The funnel ensures that no ground coffee is spilled during grinding or during other preparation of the espresso puck. This not only keeps the work surface clean, but also means less valuable coffee is wasted. Especially with large doses of 18 to 20 grams, as is common these days, the sieve sometimes runs out of coffee. A suitable funnel prevents ground coffee from escaping from the sieve during grinding and possible subsequent steps. The pursuit of perfect extraction is prompting more and more baristas to distribute the ground coffee in the sieve as evenly as possible before tamping. Stirring with fine needles, the so-called Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT), is very popular. Without a funnel, however, a lot of ground coffee is usually lost.

Painstaking custom-made production for the Mignon-Libra

Eureka's coffee grinders from the Mignon series are justifiably extremely popular among discerning baristas. The iconic design with the angular nose from which the ground coffee comes out looks great, but it has one disadvantage: the discharge chute and the clamping device for hands-free grinding leave no room for the use of conventional funnels. This is exactly where Eureka comes in and solves the problem with clever design. Thanks to magnets, the Eureka dosing funnel is held securely on the portafilter from the outside. The dosing funnel fits standard portafilters with a size between 57 and 58.3 millimeters. However, it should be noted that this funnel was specially designed for the Mignon Libra and is clamped into the weighing device.
