The Eureka Mignon Single Dose is, as the name suggests, designed for single dosing. This workflow for grinding coffee is characterized by the fact that the required amount of beans is weighed and then completely ground. Unlike on-demand grinding, the coffee beans are not stored directly in the grinder, but rather in an airtight container. Single grinding also offers the advantage that you can switch between different types of beans flexibly and easily, as no residues remain in the grinder. In addition, changes in the grinding level are more immediate with single dosing, as no residues mix with the last selected grinding level. As you would expect from Eureka, the grinding level can also be adjusted extremely precisely and continuously on the Mignon Single Dose.

Eureka Mignon Single Dose: Zero Retention

Of course, you could also use a conventional coffee grinder for single dosing. However, this creates a number of challenges that specially designed grinders such as the Mignon Single Dose skilfully avoid. The presence of dead space in particular stands in the way of completely grinding a portion of coffee beans. The dead space of a grinder, known in English as retention, indicates how much ground coffee remains inside the grinder, i.e. in the grinding chamber, the ejection and other cracks, and in case of doubt mixes with the next portion. To reduce the dead space to a minimum, the Mignon Single Dose stands on a base tilted forward at an angle of 15 degrees. In addition, there is an elastic collar between the filling funnel and the wooden lid, which acts as a bellows to pump every last bit of ground coffee out of the grinder with a blast of air. The stainless steel cup supplied is perfect for weighing up to around 45 g of coffee beans and for collecting and transferring the ground coffee after grinding.

To celebrate 100 years of Eureka, the Florentines have launched the premium brand Oro (Italian for gold). Eureka's Golds are characterized by their particularly high quality and durability. Even from the outside, the Mignon Single Dose looks extremely classy with its robust housing and oak elements. Inside the mill, a powerful and durable AC motor operates at 1650 revolutions per minute. The specially treated 65 mm grinding discs from the Diamond Inside range also ensure a particularly long service life. Thanks to the Silent technology, the Mignon Single Dose is also acoustically surprisingly quiet despite its performance.
