The ECM Mechanika VI Slim is the successor to the Mechanika V Slim. Over the previous generations, the ECM Mechanika has developed into an extremely popular portafilter machine that has proven its capabilities and reliability in many homes, offices, etc. About five years after Generation V, Version VI is coming onto the market, which has a few clever and contemporary improvements on board. The new temperature control using a toggle switch is particularly interesting. ECM has installed a toggle switch with three positions on the bottom right of the machine, which is easy to feel. This switch can be used to select three different temperatures for the boiler, which, due to the design, affect the steam pressure and indirectly the reference temperature. In addition to minor changes inside the machine, the Mechanika VI Slim now offers the option of switching a pre-infusion and an eco mode on or off. When eco mode is activated, the machine switches off automatically after 90 minutes without interaction.
The ECM Mechanika VI Slim is a portafilter machine with a classic dual circuit design. Espresso machines that are built according to the dual circuit principle only have one boiler, but can still produce steam and espresso at the same time. The reason for this is that the 2.2 liter stainless steel boiler of the Mechanika VI Slim provides plenty of pressure for frothing milk at temperatures of 120 to 128 degrees. The heat from the steam boiler is used via a heat exchanger to bring the water to the optimal temperature for making espresso. The thermosiphon effect creates circulation in the brewing group, which ensures temperature stability in the desired range of 93 to 96 degrees.
ECM also uses the specially adapted version of the legendary E61 brewing group in the Mechnaika VI Slim. The manufacturer from Heidelberg also uses the highest quality components and materials in its factory in Milan. The very good workmanship, the elegant design and clever features such as the automatic switch-off of the pump when the water tank is empty make ECM's portafilter machines luxurious and sought-after espresso machines. The new features of the Mechnanika VI Slim are really useful and make the machine a very attractive overall package. Adjusting the temperature to the degree of roasting of the beans is very helpful for optimal extraction - the lighter the roast, the hotter the water should be. The switchable pre-infusion of three seconds wets the espresso puck with water before the actual extraction in order to promote the most even extraction possible. Even the maximum brewing pressure, which is regulated by the expansion valve, can be adjusted using a screw in the area of the drip tray. The Mechnanika VI Slim thus offers the possibility of adjusting all important parameters precisely to your personal taste. The two pressure gauges for boiler and pump pressure are very helpful in adjusting and checking during extraction.
The ECM Mechanika VI Slim exudes the timeless elegance of Italian espresso machines. With chrome steel as far as the eye can see, the elegant portafilter machine is a real eye-catcher. Thanks to the classic look with toggle switch and traditional status lights, you can't tell how modern some of the features are. Two perfectly balanced portafilters with single and double spouts and the elegant rotary valves also make the feel a real pleasure. Thanks to the elegant feet, not only can the toggle switch on the underside be easily felt, but it is also still possible to wipe the work surface under the machine. With a weight of 20 kilograms, it quickly becomes clear that the ECM Mechanika VI Slim is a serious machine.
