With the tamping machine of the same name, the Pocket Press brand is launching a compact device that is as simple as it is ingenious. A sensor detects when a portafilter is inserted and the machine starts tamping, always perfectly vertical and with constant pressure. The contact pressure can be gradually adjusted and saved between 10 kg and 30 kg using the touch interface.
The added value of the Pocket Press compared to manual tamping is particularly evident in demanding environments when it comes to reproducibility and efficiency. Even if different baristas work at the espresso bar, a tamping machine makes sense to exclude differences in tamping.
The Pocket Press is a simple device, which makes it particularly easy to use. The contact pressure can be set in kilogram increments between 10 kg and 30 kg using the plus and minus buttons on the touch interface. An extra button for cleaning lowers the piston for ten seconds so that it can be cleaned of coffee residues with a cloth. The portafilter detection is solved using an induction sensor. This prevents false activations by non-metallic objects. The sensitivity of the sensor, or the distance of the sensor to the rear end of the portafilter rail, can be readjusted if necessary. In order to adjust the Pocket Press perfectly, the height of the rail onto which the portafilter is pushed can be adjusted using a large wheel. This means that it can be used for portafilters with single or double spouts, as well as for bottomless portafilters from a wide range of manufacturers. With a diameter of 58 mm, the tamper fits into most standard sieves. A visual highlight is the lighting of the portafilter slot.
