Espresso
The India Malabar Monsoon by Caffè Roen is a single origin espresso made from the beans for which Indian coffee cultivation is known. The 100% Arabica beans come from the Malabar region on India's southwest coast. The growing areas are at altitudes between 900 and 1,500 meters. The special thing about this fine espresso is the so-called monsooning process. It was discovered by chance when the green coffee was once transported in jute sacks on sailing ships. During the long journey times that were common at the time, the raw beans were exposed to wind and weather. This changed the color and taste. Enthusiasm for the new, unusual flavor quickly set in. Today, the monsooning processing process is carried out in the country of origin. As in the past, the farmers use monsoon rain and monsoon winds, whereby the coffee beans are protected from the direct monsoon rain, but are exposed to the warm and humid monsoon winds. The result is a very exclusive coffee character.
The very special processing described above causes the coffee beans to swell and thus changes their sensory properties. The result is an intensely flavorful Arabica variety with a strong and long-lasting taste. With notes of spices, malt and nuts, this single origin knows how to delight its fans. When prepared as an espresso, it develops a very full crema and a distinctive, almost syrupy body.
