The coffee roastery
Hoppenworth & Ploch has been roasting in Sachsenhausen since 2019 and also offers barista courses and other coffee seminars on site. The company's mission: to transform the food world into a more sustainable, friendlier and fairer world. Hoppenworth & Ploch is mainly committed to light roasts, as these allow the full complexity of the different origins to be experienced. But the roastery also has a selection of dark specialty coffee roasts in its range for fans of classic and more bitter coffee beans. The fact that Hoppenworth & Ploch knows its craft is made clear by Kilian's title of Roasting Master 2018 and the award "Roaster of the Year 2021" by Crema Magazine.
Seasonality and the understanding of craftsmanship
Hoppenworth & Ploch always buys coffee seasonally. The range changes several times a month and the beans are always roasted fresh. The roastery delights coffee fans every month with at least one new specialty coffee in its range, with each coffee intended to highlight the characteristics of the respective terroir. The team invests a lot of time in developing the profile and quality control of the beans and has already been rewarded with several titles for their excellent work.
Sustainability as an important value
All of the young roastery's coffees can be traced back to the farm. Hoppenworth & Ploch works exclusively with importers who share their values. This means that only ecologically, economically and socially sustainable coffees from fair trade cultivation make it into the company's roaster.
