Fair trade
The family business has stood for high-quality, fairly traded coffee since 1912. The green coffee comes from small cooperatives around the equator: from Central and South America, through Africa and India, to Indonesia. Environmentally and humane production conditions are very important. The owner, Daniel Badilatti, is regularly on site to pass on his knowledge and philosophy to each individual farmer. The farmers know that they are getting a fair price for their coffee. In return, Cafè Badilatti can rely on the top quality of the green coffee.
Excellent
Cafè Badilatti was awarded the Superior Taste Award by the International Taste Institute Brussels in 2019 and 2020! An independent panel of 200 experts (sommeliers, chefs, various star chefs) from 20 nations has given the “Espresso-Bar All'Italiana” the highest rating of 3 stars and the distinction of excellent.
For connoisseurs
The high altitude of the Engadine village of Zuoz is ideal for roasting because of the lower boiling point: it takes longer to process the beans here, which has a positive effect on the quality of the coffee. The coffee beans are roasted at a temperature of 180 to 220 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. By comparison, industrial coffee is often processed at very high temperatures for only about 2 minutes. Badilatti coffees are low in acid and extremely delicious.
