The first generation of Fellow Ode coffee grinder thrilled the coffee scene right from the start. The concept is simple but ingenious: a compact electric grinder for home use, equipped with grinding discs in a professional 64 mm format. Add to that the easy grinding adjustment and the bean container designed for single dosing at an attractive price and coffee fans from all over the world are in ecstasy. Although the first generation of the Fellow Ode was already really good, Fellow has left the most important teething problems behind with the second generation and incorporated crucial improvements.

The Fellow Ode Workflow

Just like its predecessor, the Fellow Ode Gen 2 is designed for single dosing. This means that each portion is weighed individually and then ground completely. The new bean container has a larger volume and now offers space for up to 100 grams of beans - enough for a good one and a half liters of standard filter coffee. While in the first generation the inclination of the filling shaft sometimes meant that individual beans remained lying around, Fellow has improved this with the Gen 2 and chosen a steeper angle. The ground coffee ends up in the magnetically fixed collecting cup, which has also been slightly enlarged. The pouring aid integrated into the cup is really smart, so that nothing goes wrong when pouring into the coffee maker. Also new is the innovative antistatic system, which actively counteracts the static charge of the coffee grounds. This means that significantly less residue is left in and around the grinder. In order to get every last bit of ground coffee from the grinder into the cup, the Fellow Ode has a lever with a spring, which is used to easily knock it out. The grinding level can still be adjusted using the large rotary knob on the front - an overview of the different grinders is printed on the inside of the lid. Fellow has also done away with the beeping sound that the first generation grinders made when starting and stopping a grinding process.

Sublime grinding result

At the heart of the Fellow Ode Gen 2 is Fellow's new grinder, the so-called Gen 2 Brew Burrs. The geometry of the grinding discs in the popular 64 mm format has been adapted so that the new Fellow Ode can be set more finely than the first generation. However, the Fellow Ode is still specialized in filter coffee and not suitable for espresso. While particularly enthusiastic coffee fans were happy to replace the grinding discs on the Gen 1 with more expensive ones, the new grinding discs on the Gen 2 already deliver an extremely sublime grinding result right out of the box. The particle distribution ensures particularly balanced and sweet coffee in the cup. The large 64 mm grinding discs in a vertical orientation also ensure particularly fast grinding. The grinder is also much quieter than comparable grinders with smaller grinding discs or conical grinders. It is also extremely practical that the motor grinds particularly evenly thanks to the PID control and recognizes when all the beans have been ground through. The grinder then switches off automatically.
