Really good coffee – that is the mission
The four-person team led by managing director Christian Klatt, who has 25 years of coffee experience, takes great care of the coffee beans. Each coffee is roasted using a complex hand-roasting process, which requires a lot of experience to produce such high-quality coffee. The eye and nose of master roaster Robin Kochan determine the aroma of the coffee. The green coffee for the Union Rösterei products comes from Brazil, Colombia, India, Sumatra and Ethiopia. This produces coffee of outstanding quality. Strong, yet harmonious with an elegant fullness.
The road to good coffee is long. Not only concentrated experience and an iron will are necessary, but also a 360-degree view of the coffee during roasting. The use of the senses "smell", "taste" and "sight" is necessary until a well-controlled roast is achieved and it acquires its very own signature. In the end, only a few seconds decide the success of a roast.
The Roastery: A Location with Tradition
The founders found a perfect place for their coffee roastery under the roof of the old brewery building of the Bremen Union Brewery in Walle. This is where they now roast their coffee, in the old attic of the Union Brewery. An old cable winch pulls the green coffee sacks into the former malt store, which was converted from the attic into a coffee roastery in 9 months. The range includes both coffees and espressos with product names that have a North German influence: Nordlicht, Hansebrand, Küstenkind and Deichgold. Discover the various coffees developed by this young roastery through laborious hand roasting.
