The founding of the Danesi roastery
Rome is the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica and the Roman Forum. The Eternal City is a metropolis on the Mediterranean with a lot of history and, like no other in the world, it preserves works of art from all eras. Alberto Danesi's Danesi roastery is as striking and unique as this city. He founded it in 1905. As one of the first coffee lovers, he shaped the coffee culture and the consumption of traditional espresso in Rome at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1933, Giovanni Danesi took over the business from his father and continued to expand it until his sons Alfredo and Roberto continued the tradition in 1990. The company is now in the fourth generation, run exclusively by women.
The Italian Espresso
Danesi Caffè is a synonym for tradition and passion. Danesi is committed to the culture of Italian espresso all over the world. In Italy, espresso, or “caffè”, is a pleasant pastime and an excuse for a short break. Espresso is usually drunk in cafés in the afternoon, directly at the bar. Italians do not have an ESPRESSO MACHINE or PORTAFILTER MACHINE at home. In Italian kitchens, you will find at most a Mocha Express pot. The center of life is not the house either. Life takes place on the street, in the café, at work or on the terrace. In Italy, the PERFECT ESPRESSO is an art that belongs in the espresso bar and not in the kitchen next to the dishwasher or microwave. Danesi develops its product range with this claim in mind, and the fact that we can now speak of a coffee culture is not least thanks to this tradition-conscious roastery.
Espresso: Intangible Cultural Heritage
The Danesi company has joined the community for the protection of traditional Italian espresso. The community was founded with the aim of protecting and promoting traditional Italian espresso coffee, primarily by gaining its recognition by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Awareness of ecological cultivation conditions and social justice characterizes the cooperation with the coffee farmers. Danesi is committed to the environment and biodegradable packaging material. In everything that has accompanied the roastery over the years, coffee enjoyment has always been the focus. All of their actions flow from the passion to capture the aroma of coffee quality.
