Matching the Heritage Line

With the Heritage Line, ECM has created a new design collection that consists of an espresso machine, grinder, this brewing drawer and a milk jug. Instead of high-gloss chrome, the Heritage Line uses satin stainless steel in combination with anthracite and copper. The brewing drawer is also made of satin stainless steel and has a copper-colored ECM emblem on the front, as well as a matt black handle. It fits seamlessly into the look of the Heritage Line.

Is a brewing drawer worth it?

When making espresso, the coffee grounds or the used espresso puck must be removed from the portafilter after each use. There are essentially three solutions for this. Knocking it out directly into the trash can is not very elegant and prevents the old coffee from being collected for further use in the household. Small waste containers for the work surface fill up quickly and tend to regularly spill a few splashes and crumbs in all directions. Generous grounds drawers like this one from ECM are usually placed under the espresso grinder and offer significantly more space for coffee grounds, so that firstly nothing goes wrong and secondly it has to be emptied less often. By placing it under the grinder, the space on the work surface is still used efficiently.

Clever solution

The ECM brew drawer in the Heritage Line is equipped with a triangular knock-off rod. The new shape has the advantage that less old coffee remains on the rod. At the same time, the rod is covered with a sound-absorbing layer, which also protects the portafilter. With a width of 17 centimeters and a depth of 32.5 centimeters, the brew drawer fits particularly well under the ECM S-Manuale 64, which is also available in the Heritage Line version. The height of 7 centimeters raises the grinder to a comfortable working height and matches the height of the drip tray of the ECM Mechanika VI Slim, which is also part of the Heritage Line.
