The story about Soy: This is Emir Ali Enc

The son of two diplomats studied in Ankara to pursue a career as a diplomat himself. He has lived in eight countries and speaks all eight languages. During his studies, he missed his mother's good copper pots and pans. So he decided to ride his motorbike to Syria. There he completed an intensive six-month internship with a master coppersmith. Emir wanted to know everything about the materials and the craft. Back in Istanbul, he founded the company SOY in 2011 with $7,000 in equity and started the copper factory together with an employee. A good friend of Emir's later registered him for the Turkish version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" so that he could also invest the winnings in SOY.

In the middle of the largest bazaar in the world is the workshop of Soy

Every morning, Emir takes the ferry from the Asian side of Istanbul, where he lives, to the European side. This is where the largest market in the world is located: the Grand Bazaar, built in 1678. The bazaar was built during the Ottoman Empire. Over 4,000 shops sell valuables such as jewelry and gold, as well as food and clothing. There is a lot of activity and life in all the aisles. The SOY headquarters is located in one of these alleys.

Each piece of Soy is made by hand with love and diligence

Today, there are five employees who work for SOY every day with strength and passion. Each product is produced by hand. SOY's cezves, the classic Turkish coffee makers, are sometimes formed using molds. These are very difficult to produce because they consist of seven different pieces that have to be put together like a puzzle. The massive devices are operated with hands and body weight to make the copper pots.

World-leading manufacturer of copperware

SOY is now the world's leading manufacturer of copperware. The products are so high quality that they last a lifetime. The hammered copper and silver are up to 350% harder than non-hammered copper. Professionals such as World Cezve Champion Turgay Yildzli and Michelin star chefs use and value SOY products. Copper is a very suitable material because it can heat up very quickly but also cool down quickly. This gives you a great deal of control over the temperature in the copper pots. SOY now supplies over 47 countries around the world. Fans include owners of Arabian superyachts, Japanese luxury department stores and even the Danish royal family.

Soy's products are Emir's "babies"

The name SOY has several meanings in Turkish: origin, family and roots. Emir himself calls his pieces from the workshop babies. When acquaintances wonder why Emir chose the Grand Bazaar and not a career as a diplomat, he replies that it makes him sad when he doesn't hear the hammering of the workshop. SOY is not just his company, it is his whole passion.
