The espresso cup: thought through down to the smallest detail

Anyone who thinks that an espresso cup has achieved its typical shape by chance will be surprised. The slightly conical shape of the espresso cups and a rounded base are ideal for espresso, as this allows the crema to expand optimally and cover the surface thinly. Since the cup is larger than the espresso flowing in, the crema has enough space to unfold. A rather small opening in the espresso cup ensures that the surface tension of the crema is lower, which means that it lasts longer.

We recommend placing the espresso cups on the top shelf of the portafilter machine / espresso machine, if possible. The cups can be preheated there. Place the cups with the bottom on the shelf to allow preheating. If the top edge accidentally comes into direct contact with the heat source, it can heat up so much that it becomes too hot for your lips. Making coffee is much more fun if you have the right dishes at home!

Aromatico tip: Fill espresso cups with hot water before use and pour it out just before the espresso is to be poured in. This way, the espresso stays hot for a particularly long time, despite the small amount of liquid, and the taste does not change so quickly, as the cooling only begins later.
